Preparing your building for commercial window cleaning
Practical information to help you plan the work, prepare your enquiry and agree a clear commercial cleaning scope.
Request a quoteOnce a commercial cleaning visit has been agreed, useful preparation is mostly coordination: confirm the scope, make the agreed access available and tell the team about changes. The exact arrangements should come from your accepted quotation and booking, rather than a generic checklist.
Check the agreed work
Review which buildings, elevations and internal rooms are included. If you now want another surface or an additional block cleaned, raise it before the visit. Extra work may need a revised assessment and price, particularly where access differs from the original brief.
Keep the distinction between cleaning and repair clear. If a new leak, damaged pane or other defect has appeared, report it as a change in condition rather than expecting it to be fixed during a cleaning visit.
Coordinate people and spaces
Make sure the named site contact knows the agreed attendance arrangements. Confirm who can open gates, admit the team and coordinate any escorts or sign-in procedure. If a tenant, department or resident liaison is responsible for an area, establish that link before arrival.
For internal glass, follow the agreed arrangements for room availability and items near the windows. The business should not assume cleaners will move sensitive equipment, personal possessions or heavy fixtures. Where something cannot be moved, tell the team so access can be reviewed.
Review activity around the building
Let the team know about new building work, deliveries, parked equipment, public events or a change in opening hours that affects the area. Confirm any agreed preparation with the responsible site manager; do not independently make changes to specialist equipment or restricted areas for the purpose of cleaning.
If the photographs or access description supplied at quote stage no longer match the premises, send an update. This is especially useful where a courtyard has become a storage area or another contractor now occupies the approach to the glass.
Keep a clear record afterwards
Use the agreed scope to discuss any questions about the completed visit. Identify the building and surface concerned rather than describing the entire site as one item. For a recurring programme, note any access changes or areas to discuss before the next attendance.
If you have not yet arranged a visit, start with a short commercial enquiry. There is no need to carry out physical preparation or reorganise the site before the team has assessed and agreed the work.
