Planning window cleaning around opening hours

Practical information to help you plan the work, prepare your enquiry and agree a clear commercial cleaning scope.

Public opening hours are only one part of a commercial window-cleaning plan. A useful attendance brief also explains deliveries, staff preparation, occupied rooms and the time needed to return areas to normal use.

Write the building's working day

List the activities that affect the windows, starting before customers arrive. A shop may receive stock before opening. A restaurant may prepare its dining room all morning. An office may have early meetings even while reception is closed. Identify the areas affected by each activity.

Then separate external access from internal access. A frontage might be available while a meeting room is occupied, or a room may be empty while a delivery vehicle blocks the outside elevation. The cleaning arrangement needs both sides of that picture.

Define an access window precisely

Instead of saying “before opening”, explain who will be present, which door can be used and which rooms will be ready. State when displays or furniture can be moved and when the area must return to use. Include any sign-in, escort or room-release process.

For example, a café may have an exterior frontage available before service but internal tables occupied by preparation staff. That does not rule out an enquiry; it shows that the inside and outside requirements need to be assessed separately. The team can discuss what arrangement is practical before attendance is confirmed.

Show the constraints that cannot move

  • Fixed delivery or collection periods beside the glazing.
  • Appointments in rooms included for internal cleaning.
  • Public entrances that must remain available.
  • Times when the site contact or keyholder is present.
  • Setup and clearing periods for events or hospitality service.

Distinguish fixed requirements from preferences. This gives the quotation discussion useful flexibility without implying that any requested time is already available. The method, scope and proposed attendance should be confirmed together for the site.

Plan for an operating-day change

If a delivery, event or staff absence changes the agreed access, notify the team through the established contact. Identify the affected area and the new constraint. A change in one room does not necessarily describe the whole building, so keep the update specific.

For recurring work, review whether the same opportunity exists each time. Seasonal opening, rotating shifts and changing appointments can alter availability. An accurate access note is more useful than repeating a schedule that the premises can no longer support.

Opening-hours FAQs

Can we request cleaning while the business is open?

Explain the customer routes, rooms and surfaces involved. The feasibility depends on the site and proposed arrangement, so provide the operating details and let the assessment establish a practical scope.

Does requesting an early or late visit guarantee that time?

No. Give the preferred period and the reason it matters. Availability and the practical attendance arrangement are confirmed with the quotation and booking, using the actual amount of work and access required.
