Separating exterior cleaning tasks in a commercial quote
Practical information to help you plan the work, prepare your enquiry and agree a clear commercial cleaning scope.
Request a quoteAn exterior-cleaning quotation should name each surface and task. Windows, gutter channels, gutter faces, cladding, render, signage and roof elements need distinct descriptions even when they belong to the same building.
Start with the result you are requesting
Describe what you want assessed in plain language: clean external window glass, remove debris from a gutter channel or wash the visible face of cladding. Avoid an instruction such as “clean everything outside”, which leaves both the surfaces and intended result uncertain.
Photograph each material and identify its location. A distant elevation image may not show whether a panel is glass, a coated surface or signage. Include a closer view from a normally accessible position and any available maintenance guidance.
Build a separate line for each task
| Item | Useful distinction |
|---|---|
| Windows | Exterior glass, internal faces, frames, sills and doors |
| Guttering | Channel clearance versus washing visible exterior faces |
| Cladding or render | Material, finish, affected area and current condition |
| Signage | Sign face, fittings and position on the building |
| Roof elements | Roof surface, rooflights and solar panels as separate requests |
Monk Cleaning Services' existing commercial offer includes window and exterior cleaning. The individual surfaces, suitability and access still need assessment before the proposed work and price are agreed.
Do not treat a symptom as a settled cause
If water is overflowing, a surface is stained or a pane remains cloudy, describe what you observe and where. Cleaning may be the requested task, but a photograph does not establish every underlying cause. Record known damage or previous repairs alongside the cleaning enquiry.
For example, a dirty gutter face and an overflowing channel are different observations. A quotation addressing the outside appearance should not be read as a promise to resolve drainage or repair a joint. Clarify the actual task and any separate issue needing another assessment.
Compare combined proposals without losing detail
You can ask about several services together while keeping their scopes visible. Identify the buildings, elevations and access requirements for each, then check that every requested item appears in the proposal. Ask which elements are optional and how a change to one affects the overall arrangement.
For recurring window cleaning with occasional exterior work, record the different visit assumptions. A one-off cladding wash should not be silently treated as part of every future window attendance.
Exterior-scope FAQs
Can several exterior tasks be included in one enquiry?
Yes. List them separately with location, photographs and the intended result. The team can assess the relationship between the tasks and confirm the proposed scope for each.
Does a building-cleaning price include all attached surfaces?
Check the written scope. Attached signs, canopies, rooflights and gutters may be separate requirements, so ask for them to be named where you want them considered.
