Commercial gutter cleaning enquiries can cover clearing debris from gutters, washing the visible exterior of guttering, or both. These are different tasks, so please state which you need. Monk Cleaning Services assesses commercial gutter work across the North West alongside the building's access and condition.

Clearance and washing have different purposes

Gutter clearance concerns material collected in the gutter channel. Exterior washing concerns the visible gutter face and, if agreed, adjoining fascias or soffits. A quotation for one does not automatically include the other. If you have been given a maintenance specification, send the relevant scope rather than relying on the word “cleaning”.

Leaking joints, damaged sections, sagging gutters and drainage problems should also be described, but they are not automatically resolved by cleaning. The team can assess the cleaning request without representing it as a repair service or guaranteeing that clearance will fix the cause of water ingress.

Identify the runs that need attention

For a warehouse, school or managed block, name the building and the side concerned. Roof layouts can create separate gutter runs that are not visible from the front. If you have a plan or existing maintenance photograph, use it to distinguish the areas.

Tell us about annexes, loading-bay canopies and covered entrances. These can be easy to miss when the brief refers only to the main building. Please also flag any known damage or fragile areas for assessment before a method is proposed.

Useful details for a commercial quote

  • Site postcode, approximate building height and which gutter runs are included.
  • Whether the request is for clearance, external washing or both.
  • Known access constraints, vehicle movements and working-hour restrictions.
  • Any observed overflow or other issue, described without assuming its cause.

Only take photographs from places you can normally access safely. There is no need to climb a ladder or access a roof for the enquiry. The team will explain if more information or a site assessment is needed.

Coordinate with other exterior work

If you also want windows, cladding or fascias cleaned, mention them in the same brief. Each item should be included explicitly in the final scope, with any one-off work distinguished from a recurring window cleaning programme.
