Commercial cleaning advice
How often should commercial windows be cleaned?
Practical information to help you plan the work, prepare your enquiry and agree a clear commercial cleaning scope.
Request a quoteThere is no single cleaning interval that suits every commercial building. A practical programme considers how the glass is used, how quickly it becomes visibly dirty, the presentation you need and the access arrangements. Different parts of the same premises can have different requirements.
Start with the areas people judge most often
Entrance doors and display windows may show fingerprints or marks between external cleans. An upper office elevation has a different pattern of use. Describe these areas separately instead of applying one frequency to the entire building by default.
Ask what standard you want to maintain and where it matters most. A customer-facing frontage, a communal entrance and a rear service window may have different priorities. That discussion creates a useful brief without assuming the most frequent option is needed everywhere.
Use the building's actual condition
Notice how the glazing looks between visits and record any areas that become marked sooner. Nearby trees, traffic, site activity or sheltered positions may affect different elevations differently. Treat these as conditions to review at your premises, rather than a universal timetable for all buildings in the same town.
If the windows have not been cleaned for some time, separate the first-clean request from the ongoing programme. An initial condition assessment helps avoid using a neglected starting point as the measure for every future visit.
Align frequency with access
Internal rooms may need appointments or an escort, while exterior work may require permission to use a yard or shared area. A programme has to be workable for the person arranging access as well as suitable for the glass.
Where there are planned events, seasonal openings or maintenance shutdowns, give the relevant dates. These can be considered alongside routine cleaning, with any extra visit agreed explicitly. The domestic six-, eight- or twelve-week booking choices should not be assumed to define a commercial contract.
Review a programme with evidence
Keep a simple note of the surfaces included, the interval agreed and any recurring issues. If one area consistently needs attention sooner, discuss that part rather than changing every building's programme. If access repeatedly fails, resolve the arrangement before adding more visits.
When requesting a quote, say whether you already have a frequency in mind or would like to discuss options. The proposed schedule and scope should be confirmed together before a recurring arrangement begins.
